A cold frontal boundary shifted eastward off the East Coast on Saturday,
while a separate frontal boundary extended from the southern Plains to
the Great Lakes.
Showers and thunderstorms continued to linger along the Eastern Seaboard
on Saturday as a cold front inched off of the coast. Flood warnings
were issued in several southeastern states, as a line of thunderstorms
stretched from Florida to the northern Mid-Atlantic. Nasa Shuttle, Fla.,
reported a midday total of 0.99 inches of rain, while Cocoa Beach,
Fla., reported a midday total of 0.72 inches of rain. A separate cold
front drove a mixture of rain and snow across the upper Midwest, the
Great Lakes and the Northeast. Winter weather advisories were issued in
northern Wisconsin and northern Michigan, as Laurium, Mich., reported a
midday total of 6.5 inches of snow, while Calumet, Mich., reported a
midday total of 5.7 inches of snow.
Out west, low pressure ushered scattered snow showers across the
northern Rockies. Winter storm warnings were issued across Montana and
Wyoming, while avalanche warnings were issued in central Idaho. Cascade,
Mont., reported a midday total of 4.3 inches of snow. High pressure
kept conditions warm and sunny from the Desert Southwest to the southern
Plains on Saturday.
