Mild weather is in store for much of the weekend around Washington, D.C., with temperatures reaching into the lower 60s.
Sudden fluctuations are possible on the Potomac River as ice may begin to break and shift.
The temperature will remain above freezing in most areas Saturday night in the city. However, a few icy spots can develop in the far northern and western suburbs late.
This mild pattern will soon come to an end.
The snow and showers across the Northeast during the daylight hours will be spotty.
The weather this coming week will turn progressively colder and could feature more of the white stuff.

A weak system will delivering a period of rain that will eventually mix with wet snow Sunday night. The snow will accumulate a fresh coating to an inch across the northern and western suburbs.
Another weak system may swing through with a bit of rain and snow on Tuesday.
A third system will have to be watched for the potential for more substantial snow and/or rain by Wednesday.
