Tropical Storm Celia Forecast to Become a Hurricane Soon

Tropical Storm Celia is forecast to strengthen into a hurricane as it moves westward in the eastern Pacific Ocean.
Celia is not expected to directly affect any land areas as it moves over the open Pacific waters the next several days.
Here's the latest from the National Hurricane Center:
  • Celia's center was located more than 900 miles southwest of the southern tip of Baja California as of late Sunday morning.
  • Celia is expected to become a hurricane Sunday into Monday.
  • On average, the season's third storm forms by July 5, according to the National Hurricane Center.
