A deadly collision between a school bus and a train jolted a North Dakota community Monday.
According to WDAY-TV in Grand Forks, the driver and a 17-year-old died when they were thrown from the bus.
It happened during an especially frigid day where wind chills hit 11 below-zero as the first round of an arctic blast charged into the center of the nation. Wind chills dipped to 20 below by early evening. The Associated Press reports at least 11 other people were hurt.
Investigators tell WDAY the school bus driver failed to yield to the oncoming train.
The Grand Forks Herald reports there are no crossing arms at the particular railroad crossing, but there are railroad signs.
