Large hail wreaked havoc across a wide portion of the central United States from Monday afternoon into Monday evening.
"Hail was most widespread across the High Plains from the Texas Panhandle through western Kansas," AccuWeather Meteorologist David Samuhel said. "There was also some hail through eastern Wyoming, Southern Minnesota and parts of Iowa and northern Illinois.""Some of the largest hail has been in southern Wisconsin and northern Iowa," he said.
All of the affected areas were under the threat for hail through the rest of the evening. The highest threat for large hail will be across eastern Iowa, southern Wisconsin and northern parts of Illinois.
Golf ball- to baseball-sized hail has already been spotted in some locations.
"This is more than big enough to break windows and cause serious injury to people exposed to it. Folks in the threat area want to park their car in a garage or covered space," Samuhel said. "Golf ball and baseball size hail can also cause roof damage."
