Damage Reported in Missouri, Indiana as Severe Weather Persists in Plains, Midwest

Severe weather resumed Thursday in parts of the Plains, and in southwestern Missouri, residents cleaned up damage after dangerous storms struck during the late-afternoon hours.
The National Weather Service said a home near the town of La Russell, Missouri, was heavily damaged as storms rolled through Thursday afternoon. The NWS did not provide additional details, but minutes later, reports of structural damage in Stotts City were also relayed.

In addition to the structural damage, strong winds blew a vehicle off Interstate 44 near Hoberg, the NWS also reported.
The afternoon severe weather in the Show Me State came after powerful storms with strong winds battered the St. Louis area Friday morning. By the afternoon, more than 41,000 Ameren customers were still without electricity in eastern Missouri.

Flood Emergency, Storm Damage in Indiana

Later Friday evening, heavy rain triggered flooding in parts of Indiana, and strong winds damaged structures. Flash flood emergencies were issued for several counties in southern Indiana, including Washington, where water rescues were reported.
In the town of English, about 50 miles west of Louisville, damage was observed after severe storms blew through, and a trailer was flipped over.

Residents Rescued from Floodwaters in Tennessee

A flash flood emergency was declared in Sumner County, Tennessee, after a round of severe weather moved through the area, bringing hail, strong winds and heavy rainfall.
Numerous water rescues were reported in the area, but officials told News Channel 5 that none of the situations were "life-threatening."
Three school buses became trapped in floodwaters in the county on Friday morning. The Sumner County Sheriff’s Office told WKRN.com the number of children on the buses was unknown, but initial reports indicated as many as 17 children were stranded aboard one of the buses. The sheriff's office said all children were safely evacuated by water rescue teams.

Damaging Storms Hit Oklahoma, Kansas on Thursday

No injuries or damage were reported after a tornado touched down in Oklahoma Thursday, according to local officials. Jackson County Emergency Management Director Wayne Cain told the Associated Press that the twister was in progress near the town of Duke.
A farm was damaged after it was hit by a possible tornado near Seiling, Oklahoma, KJRH-TV reports.
Large hail was reported in parts of Oklahoma Thursday.
A tornado was reported in Salina, Kansas, Thursday, but there were no reports of injuries. The city's speedway took a direct hit from the twister and sustained extensive damage to the track's catch fence and press boxes, the Salina Scoop reported.
