Storms Damage More Than 30 Homes Near Dallas, Topple Trees Near Houston, Spawn Tornadoes

Severe storms, packing damaging wind gusts, large hail and a few tornadoes, rolled through east Texas on Monday, bringing down trees and power lines near Houston after damaging least 30 homes were damaged near Dallas on Sunday night.
The Frisco Fire Department says one homeowner reported that the windows had been blown out. A chimney blew over on another streets and trees and fences were also damaged during the storm. No injuries were reported.
About 33,000 customers were without power during the height of the storm, but most of those outages had been restored early Monday.
There were two confirmed tornadoes near Dallas, one in Laguna Park and another in Grand Prairie. No injuries were reported.
Trees and power lines were toppled in Jersey Village outside Houston on Monday morning.
On Sunday night, a tornado warning after Green Bay's victory over Dallas in an NFC divisional playoff kept some fans and players inside AT&T Stadium for more than hour after the game.
The Arlington Fire Department reported at least two water rescues in the evening hours.
Weather.com meteorologist Brian Donegan said 2 inches of rain fell in less than one hour, causing flash flooding of roadways in the area.
Additionally, hail larger than quarter-size coated the ground near Del Rio, Texas, early Sunday evening. The hail grew bigger, to as large as teacups, later Sunday evening near Rocksprings, Texas. Near Medina, Texas, softball-size hail dented cars.
The chance for a few severe storms will continue on Monday on the warm side of Winter Storm Jupiter. Monday morning, a severe thunderstorm moving through the west and northwest side of the Houston metro prompted several tornado warnings.
