Cooler Weather to Spread Over West This Week

The opening days of May will not be an indication of what is to come this week in the West as cooler, more seasonable air moves into the region.
The first few days of May featured dry, summerlike weather across the region which included highs in the 90s in central California and highs in the 80s over the interior Northwest.
This will change by Tuesday as noticeably lower temperatures move across the area.

While the afternoons should still be rather comfortable across the West, people may want to grab a light jacket or sweatshirt when heading out early in the morning.
Some in the Pacific Northwest may also need an umbrella when heading out the door as showers will accompany the cooler air on Tuesday and Wednesday.
This includes cities such as Seattle, Olympia and Bellingham, Washington; and Portland, Salem and Eugene, Oregon.
Meanwhile, much of California will remain dry though midweek with the exception of some thunderstorms over the Sierra Nevada.

Looking ahead to the second half of the week, temperatures are forecast to rebound in the Northwest as above-normal warmth settles over the region.
However, the lower temperatures will hold over California as clouds, and even a few showers, move over the state.
These late-week showers are not expected to have many impacts on the area, being more of a nuisance than causing disruptions.
Dry and sunny conditions can be expected to make a return to the Golden State by the weekend.
