Weather Underground Forecast for Sunday,October 5,2014

A cold frontal boundary will make its way off of the East Coast on Sunday, while a ridge of high pressure will remain parked over the eastern Pacific.

A strong low pressure system will linger over the eastern half of Canada on Sunday. A cold frontal boundary associated with this system will extend southward across the Eastern Seaboard. Showers will taper off over New England during the first part of the day, while scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible along the southern tip of Florida. The remainder of the eastern third of the country will stay mostly clear of wet weather, as temperatures are forecast to drop 10 to 20 degrees across the region. Low temperatures for the higher elevations of the Appalachians are forecast to drop below freezing during the early morning hours. Just to the west, scattered light showers will be possible across the Great Lakes and the Ohio Valley.

Meanwhile, an onshore flow from the Gulf of Mexico will trigger isolated thunderstorms over the southern tip of Texas. Additionally, light precipitation will develop over parts of North Dakota.

The western half of the country will continue to experience warm, dry conditions due to a ridge of high pressure over the eastern Pacific. The exception to this will be over northwest Washington, where a wave of low pressure will bring a slight chance of rain.
