Weather Underground Forecast for Saturday,October 4,2014

A cold front will move across the eastern portion of the country on Saturday, while high pressure will dominate the West Coast.

A strong low pressure system will continue to make its way across the Great Lakes and southeastern Canada. This system will usher rainy weather across the eastern Great Lakes and the Northeast, while snow showers will be possible over the upper Midwest. Temperatures are forecast to drop 20 degrees below normal over the Plains and the Mississippi Valley, although snow accumulations will be light across the northern tier of the country. In addition, a cold frontal boundary will extend from the northern Mid-Atlantic to the Southeast. As this cold front collides with warm, muggy air over the East Coast, showers and thunderstorms will develop across southern New England, the Mid-Atlantic and the Southeast. The strongest storms will focus over the southern Mid-Atlantic before moving offshore during Saturday afternoon and evening. High pressure will kick in behind this frontal boundary, keeping conditions mostly clear from the southern Plains to the Deep South.

Out west, a wave of low pressure will skim across the Pacific Northwest, bringing a chance of showers to northern Washington. Just to the south, a persistent ridge of high pressure will remain parked over the eastern Pacific. Warm, dry conditions will linger over the Great Basin and the Southwest, as temperatures are forecast to range between the 80s and 90s across the West Coast.
