A cold frontal boundary will move over the Northwest on Monday, while an area of low pressure will shift across the Great Lakes.
A strong cold front will move east southeastward over the Pacific Northwest on Monday. Moderate to heavy rain will develop along this frontal boundary over Washington, Oregon and northern California. Light, scattered showers will also be possible to the east of the Cascades and over parts of the Great Basin. Given the warm nature of this system, high elevation snow showers will be confined to the highest peaks of the Cascades and the northern Rockies. A ridge of high pressure over the eastern Pacific will keep conditions clear across southern California, southern Nevada and western Arizona.
Meanwhile, an onshore flow from the Gulf of Mexico will continue to initiate showers and thunderstorms over portions of southern and western Texas, New Mexico, eastern Arizona, southeast Utah and southern Colorado. The central and northern Plains will avoid wet weather on Monday.
To the east, a weak low pressure system will shift eastward over the Great Lakes. This system will bring a chance of light rain to the Great Lakes, the Ohio Valley and the Northeast. In addition, temperatures will remain 10 to 15 degrees below normal from the upper Midwest to the Northeast.
