Weather Underground Forecast for Thursday,October 16,2014

An area of low pressure will move over the eastern Great Lakes on Thursday, while a separate system will develop over the north central portion of the country.

A strong low pressure system will lift northeastward over the eastern Great Lakes and southeast Canada. This system will usher rain across portions of the upper Midwest, the Ohio Valley, the Tennessee Valley and the Mid-Atlantic. A cold frontal boundary associated with this system will extend southward over the Eastern Seaboard. Rain and thunderstorms will affect much of New England, while isolated thunderstorms will linger over southern Florida. Heavy rain associated with these thunderstorms will bring a threat of flash flooding to southwest Maine, New Hampshire, eastern Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island. High pressure will build to the west of this system, keeping conditions mostly clear across the Gulf Coast, the Deep South, the southern Plains and the Mississippi Valley.

A separate area of low pressure will shift eastward over south central Canada and the northern Plains. This system will bring a chance of rain to northern Minnesota, northern North Dakota and northern Montana on Thursday. An onshore flow from the Pacific will also push showers across portions of the Pacific Northwest and northern California. A ridge of high pressure over the eastern Pacific will keep conditions warm and dry across the Great Basin, the Desert Southwest and the Four Corners.
