Weather Underground Forecast for Tuesday,October 14,2014

A cold front will extend from the Gulf Coast to the Great Lakes on Tuesday, while a separate cold front will move across the Northwest.

A strong cold frontal boundary will extend across the central Gulf Coast, the Tennessee Valley, the Ohio Valley and the central Great Lakes on Tuesday. As moisture pools northward from the Gulf of Mexico, widespread rain and thunderstorms will develop over the central and eastern thirds of the country. Severe thunderstorms will be possible over northwest Florida, eastern Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, western North Carolina, eastern Tennessee, southwest Virginia and southeast Kentucky. These thunderstorms will be capable of producing large hail, dangerous straight line winds and isolated tornadoes. Heavy rain associated with these thunderstorms will bring a chance of flash flooding to northeast Alabama, northern Georgia, western South Carolina, western North Carolina, eastern Tennessee, Kentucky, western Virginia, southwest West Virginia, Ohio, Indiana and western Michigan. In addition, isolated thunderstorms will be possible across the Mid-Atlantic, while scattered showers will linger over the Mississippi Valley. New England will stay mostly clear of wet weather on Tuesday.

Out west, a separate cold front will extend from northern California to northern Idaho. This system will push moderate to heavy rain over the Pacific Northwest and northern California. By the late afternoon and evening, showers will develop over the upper Intermountain West. High pressure will keep conditions dry across the remainder of the Intermountain West, as well as the Great Basin and the Southwest.
