Strong Storms Aim at NYC, Boston

A batch of thunderstorms will continue to push eastward, bringing severe weather to the Northeast and mid-Atlantic into Tuesday night.
While a major severe weather outbreak is not likely, storms into early Wednesday morning may still be strong enough to cause travel delays and damage to property.
The first of the heavy storms developed over the Ohio Valley Tuesday afternoon with hail and localized strong wind gusts as the most widespread threats.
Additional impacts are expected into Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning. While the intensity of the storms may fluctuate, the storms may organize into a solid line of heavy rain, strong winds and isolated hail in the Interstate 95 corridor.

Gusts with some of the storms could approach 65 mph.
Winds this strong can bring down large tree limbs, cause power outages and toss around lightweight, loose items.
The storms will first hit areas from Maryland, eastern Virginia, Delaware and eastern Pennsylvania Tuesday evening and progress northeastward as the night progresses. The storms will affect parts of New Jersey, southeastern New York state and southwestern New England late Tuesday night and will finally roll through eastern New England early Wednesday morning.
The timing of these storms will depict the level of impact that they will have on different parts of the I-95 corridor.
While the storms are expected to clear out of Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., by early Wednesday morning, they may just be moving into Boston around the time of the morning commute.

Lunar Eclipse to Veil Moon Red in Predawn Hours of Wednesday

The clouds from the storm system in parts of the Northeast may block the view of the lunar eclipse set to take place around sunrise.
Dry and breezy conditions will move over the Northeast on Wednesday in the wake of the thunderstorms.
These dry conditions are not expected to last through the rest of the week as a disturbance in the Plains begins to move into the Northeast.
This disturbance will spread rain into the Ohio Valley on Thursday before reaching the mid-Atlantic on Friday
