A cold front diving southward into the lower Mississippi Valley will spark strong thunderstorms across the region on Monday.
Showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop ahead of this front on Monday from Tennessee to far northeastern Texas with some of the storms turning strong during the afternoon and evening hours.
People in this area should be prepared for the thunderstorms as they can cause travel delays and flooding issues as they roll through.

Nashville and Memphis, Tennessee; Little Rock, Arkansas; Tupelo, Mississippi; and Huntsville, Alabama, may all experience strong thunderstorms as they develop over the region.
Some of the thunderstorms will produce hail and wind gusts strong enough to bring down tree branches.
Some communities may be left without power for several hours in the wake of the storms as falling tree branches could bring down power lines and disrupt electrical service.
Torrential downpours may also lead to flash flooding, particularly in low lying and poor drainage areas.

The threat for the strong thunderstorms is forecast to diminish heading into Tuesday as the cold front responsible for the thunderstorms weakens and shifts to the east.
The front will still bring showers and thunderstorms to the Southeast before drier conditions move in for Wednesday.
