AccuWeather CEO Barry Lee Myers Honored With Leadership Award by American Meteorological Society

AccuWeather Global Weather Center - October 9, 2014 - AccuWeather, Inc., the global leader in digital weather information, is proud to announce the recognition by the AMS of its CEO Barry Lee Myers with the prestigious Kenneth C. Spengler Award. The citation reads: "For outstanding, highly principled leadership of the American weather industry over five decades and fostering strong cooperation between private sector and government weather services".

AMS guidelines for this award state: "The Kenneth C. Spengler Award is presented by the AMS to an individual, team or organization whose efforts have contributed to the growth of the weather and climate enterprise while materially fostering a sense of community and creating synergistic linkages between the public, private, and government sectors as well as the user community. Nominations are considered by a committee of the Weather and Climate Enterprise Commission, which makes recommendations for final approval by the AMS Council."
"With more than five decades of working with leaders of the weather industry and in governments around the world, this award is a gratifying recognition of what has been an important part of Barry Myers' life's work," said AccuWeather Founder and President, Dr. Joel N. The Kenneth C. Spengler Award will be presented to Myers at the AMS Annual Meeting in Phoenix, Ariz. in January 2015. The theme of the meeting will be "Fulfilling the Vision of Weather, Water, and Climate Information for Every Need, Time, and Place."

Barry Lee Myers has been an integral part and leading force of AccuWeather executive management team for several decades.
