Weather Underground Forecast for Monday,September 8,2014

A cold front will extend from the western Gulf Coast to the Mid-Atlantic on Monday, while tropical moisture will continue to surge across the Southwest.

A cold frontal boundary will stretch across the western Gulf Coast, the Southeast and the Mid-Atlantic on Monday. As warm, muggy air from the Gulf of Mexico collides with this frontal boundary, numerous areas of thunderstorms will develop over the region. The strongest thunderstorms are expected to develop over the central and eastern Gulf Coast, as well as the southern Mid-Atlantic. Isolated thunderstorms will also pop up over the western Gulf Coast and the Tennessee Valley. High pressure will keep conditions mostly clear across the Ohio Valley, the Great Lakes and the Northeast.

Meanwhile, a surge of tropical moisture associated with Tropical Storm Norbert will continue to ignite rain and thunderstorms over the western half of the country. Thunderstorms will be possible across the Desert Southwest, the southern Great Basin and the southern Rockies on Monday. Heavy rain associated with these thunderstorms will bring a chance of flash flooding to southeast California, southern Nevada, southeast Utah and western Arizona.

To the north, a cold front will begin to sink south southeastward over the upper Intermountain West and the northern Plains. Scattered showers will be possible over parts of the Pacific Northwest, the northern Rockies and the northern Plains. .
