Weather Underground Forecast for Sunday,September 7,2014

A cold front will extend from the southern Plains to the Mid-Atlantic on Sunday, while tropical moisture will continue to surge across the Southwest.

Hurricane Norbert is forecast to move northward along the west coast of Baja California on Sunday. Tropical moisture associated with this system will spread across the Southwest, which will trigger widespread rain and thunderstorms over the region. Strong thunderstorms are expected across the Desert Southwest, while scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop over the central and northern Rockies. Heavy rain associated with these thunderstorms will bring a chance of flash flooding to southeast California and southwest Arizona. The remainder of the West Coast will stay mostly clear of wet weather due to a ridge of high pressure over the eastern Pacific.

Meanwhile, a cold frontal boundary will extend across the southern Plains, the lower Mississippi Valley, the Southeast and the Mid-Atlantic. As warm, muggy air from the Gulf of Mexico collides with his frontal boundary, showers and thunderstorms will develop across a handful of states. The strongest storms will focus over the central and eastern Gulf Coast, as well as the Southeast. To the north, high pressure will build over the Great Lakes. Conditions will stay mostly clear across the upper Midwest, the Great Lakes and the Northeast on Sunday.
