Weather Underground Forecast for Friday,September 5,2014

An area of low pressure will drift over the Great Lakes and Canada on Friday, while monsoonal moisture will make a return to the Southwest.

A low pressure system will continue to drift east northeastward over the Great Lakes and southeast Canada on Friday. This system is expected to push rain and thunderstorms across parts of the Northeast and the Great Lakes. A cold frontal boundary associated with this system will extend southwestward over the upper Midwest, the middle Mississippi Valley and the southern Plains. As warm, muggy air collides with this frontal boundary, a line of showers and thunderstorms will develop from northern Texas to the eastern Great Lakes. The strongest storms will occur over the upper Midwest, focusing over northwest Illinois, northern Indiana, Michigan and northern Ohio. Meanwhile, an onshore flow from the Gulf of Mexico will bring isolated showers and thunderstorms to the Gulf Coast, the Southeast and the Mid-Atlantic. The majority of New England will stay mostly clear of wet weather on Friday.

Monsoonal moisture will make a return to the Four Corners, surging northward from Mexico. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop over the region, as flash flooding will be possible over western Texas and New Mexico. High pressure will keep conditions dry across the upper Intermountain West, the Pacific Northwest and the West Coast on Friday.
