Weather Underground Forecast for Monday,September 15,2014

A frontal boundary will linger over the Southeast and the Mid-Atlantic on Monday, while a low pressure system will develop over the central Plains.

A cold front extending over the Southeast and the Mid-Atlantic will continue to weaken on Monday. As warm, muggy air from the eastern Gulf Coast pushes across the southeastern corner of the country, showers and thunderstorms will develop over several states. An onshore flow from the western Gulf Coast will also fuel thunderstorms from the lower Rio Grande Valley to the central Gulf Coast. To the north, scattered showers will push across the Ohio Valley, the northern Mid-Atlantic and New England.

Meanwhile, a low pressure system will deepen as it drifts eastward over the central Plains. This system will collide with a warm, humid air mass to trigger widespread rain and thunderstorms over the nation’s midsection. High pressure will keep conditions mostly clear across the upper Intermountain West and the northern Plains on Monday.

Out west, a weak area of low pressure will move across the Pacific Northwest. This system will usher scattered showers over Oregon and western Washington. To the south, subtropical moisture associated with Hurricane Odile will begin to surge across the Southwest. Showers and thunderstorms will be possible over portions of the Four Corners. A ridge of high pressure over the eastern Pacific will bring warm, dry conditions to California on Monday.
