Weather Underground Forecast for Sunday,September 14,2014

Chilly temperatures are expected to persist for the northern Plains and upper Midwest on Sunday as another system pushes cooler air in from the north. A trough of low pressure moving through central Canada will dip into the upper Midwest and Great Lakes. This system will bring a chance of showers to areas of Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan throughout the day, with the back side of this system pushing cool air in from Canada. However, most of the region will start to warm with highs returning to near normal on Sunday. Sunday night and into Monday morning, a rain showers will move southward into southern Minnesota and Iowa.

To the southwest of this activity, a weak trough of low pressure over the central Rockies in combination with moisture moving in from the south, may allow for a few scattered showers and thunderstorms to develop across Colorado and New Mexico.

Further south, a frontal boundary that has stalled over the Gulf states will allow for more shower and thunderstorm activity to continue across the region. Heaviest rain is expected over the Carolinas and Georgia, with some scattered showers persisting across southern Texas and parts of Florida.

Out West, warm temperatures continue as offshore flow persists. Coastal areas will see highs in the mid-70s to mid-80s, with inland locations seeing highs over 100. Fire danger will remain high for parts of California, Oregon, and Washington, while excessive heat warnings will remain in effect for parts of southern California.
