Weather Underground Forecast for Saturday,September 13,2014

Wet weather will continue moving through the northern states on Saturday, while cold air quickly spreads in behind it. A ridge of high pressure continues pushing cool air in from Canada, allowing for high temperatures to range from 10 to 30 degrees below normal over the northern Rockies, the northern Plains, and into the Great Lakes region. High temperatures across the Great Lakes will vary in the lower to mid-50s on Saturday. Just east of this cold air, a high level trough of low pressure advances eastward over the Northeast and into eastern Canada throughout the day on Saturday. Expect scattered showers and thunderstorms to develop in these areas before the cold air moves in the following day. The low pressure system will also drag a cold front eastward with it, which will stretch southward down the East Coast and bring shower and thunderstorm activity to the Mid-Atlantic states and the Carolinas.

To the south, a weak area of low pressure that produced showers and thunderstorms over Florida on Friday will continue weakening as it moves westward over the Gulf of Mexico and dissipates. A few light scattered showers and thunderstorms may persist for parts of Florida, but heavy rainfall and strong thunderstorms are not anticipated. This system currently has a low, 20% chance of tropical cyclone development in the next 48 hours.

Out West, warm and dry conditions persist for the West Coast on Saturday with inland deserts reaching into the lower 100s and coastal areas remaining in the mid-70s. Warm and dry conditions will keep fire danger high for most of the Western states.
