Weather Underground Forecast for Wednesday,September 10,2014

A cold front will extend from the Intermountain West to the central Great Lakes on Wednesday, while an area of low pressure will linger over the Mid-Atlantic.

A cold front is forecast to extend across the central Rockies, the central Plains, the upper Midwest and the Great Lakes. A strong low pressure system along the eastern end of the cold front will interact with warm, muggy air over the nation’s midsection. Strong to severe thunderstorms are expected across the Midwest and the Ohio Valley. Severe thunderstorms will be possible over eastern Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Ohio. These thunderstorms will be capable of producing large hail, dangerous straight line winds and isolated tornadoes. In addition, heavy rain will bring a chance of flash flooding to eastern Wisconsin, eastern Illinois, northern Indiana, Michigan and northwest Ohio. A cold air mass will trail the aforementioned cold front, bringing winter like conditions to the northern Rockies and the northern high Plains. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will also move across the central Plains on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, tropical moisture associated with this remnants of Hurricane Norbert will initiate isolated thunderstorms across the Desert Southwest and the southern Rockies. A ridge of high pressure over the eastern Pacific will keep conditions mostly clear across the West Coast.

Along the Eastern Seaboard, a low pressure system will linger over the Mid-Atlantic. This system will continue to bring showers and thunderstorms to the southern Mid-Atlantic and the Southeast. The Northeast will avoid wet weather on Wednesday.
