Weather Underground Forecast for Friday, August 8,2014

A slow moving cold front will extend from the central Plains to the Mid-Atlantic, while a separate cold front will move across the Northeast.

A cold front will stretch across the central Plains, the middle Mississippi Valley, the Tennessee Valley and the Mid-Atlantic. Warm, muggy air from the Gulf of Mexico will interact with this cold front to initiate widespread rain and thunderstorms over a handful of states. Thunderstorms will be possible across the Southeast, the Gulf Coast, the Deep South, the middle Mississippi Valley, the central Plains and the northern Plains. Heavy rain associated with these thunderstorms will bring a chance of flash flooding to the southern and central Appalachians. Temperatures are forecast to range between the 70s and 80s across the northern tier of the country, as humidity levels will drop below normal. Meanwhile, temperatures are forecast to range between the 90s and 100s from the southern Plains to the Southeast.

A low pressure system will move eastward across the northeastern corner of the country. This system will usher rain and thunderstorms across northern New England on Friday.

Out west, a separate low pressure system will linger over the upper Intermountain West. As this system interacts with a monsoonal moisture, showers and afternoon thunderstorms will develop across the Rockies and the Great Basin. High pressure over the eastern Pacific will keep the West Coast mostly clear of precipitation.
