THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SPOKANE HAS ISSUED A RED FLAG WARNING FOR WIND AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM TO 10 PM PDT TUESDAY. THE FIRE WEATHER WATCH IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT.
* AFFECTED AREA: FIRE WEATHER ZONE 101 NORTHERN AND CENTRAL IDAHO PANHANDLE (ZONE 101)...FIRE WEATHER ZONE 673 EAST WASHINGTON NORTHERN COLUMBIA BASIN (ZONE 673)...FIRE WEATHER ZONE 684 EAST WASHINGTON OKANOGAN/METHOW VALLEYS (ZONE 684)... FIRE WEATHER ZONE 686 EAST WASHINGTON NORTHEAST (ZONE 686) AND FIRE WEATHER ZONE 687 EAST WASHINGTON OKANOGAN HIGHLANDS (ZONE 687).
* WINDS: NORTH 10 TO 20 MPH. GUSTS OF 30 MPH AROUND EPHRATA...WATERVILLE...MOSES LAKE AND RITZVILLE. GUSTS AS HIGH AS 40 MPH AROUND OROVILLE AND OMAK.
* RELATIVE HUMIDITY: 10 TO 15 PERCENT VALLEYS. 15 TO 25 PERCENT IN THE MOUNTAINS OF NORTHEAST WASHINGTON AND THE IDAHO PANHANDLE.
* IMPACTS: GUSTY NORTH WINDS WILL INCREASE THE POTENTIAL FOR RAPID FIRE GROWTH OVER MUCH OF CENTRAL AND EASTERN WASHINGTON AS WELL AS THE NORTHERN AND CENTRAL IDAHO PANHANDLE.

A RED FLAG WARNING MEANS THAT CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE EITHER OCCURRING NOW...OR WILL SHORTLY. A COMBINATION OF STRONG WINDS AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY WILL CREATE EXPLOSIVE FIRE GROWTH POTENTIAL.
