Weather Underground Forecast for Monday,July 11,2016
Active weather will impact the north central section of the country on Monday, while hot and dry weather dominates the Southwest.
A low pressure system will trek slowly eastward over the northern Plains. This system will collide with warm and moist air over the Plains and the Midwest, which will set the stage for strong to severe thunderstorms. Severe thunderstorms will be possible in eastern North Dakota, eastern South Dakota, eastern Nebraska, Minnesota, Iowa, northwest Missouri and western Wisconsin. These thunderstorms will be capable of producing large hail, dangerous straight line winds and isolated tornadoes. Heavy rain will also bring threats of flash flooding to Minnesota, western Wisconsin, Iowa, northwest Missouri, eastern Nebraska, northeast Montana and northwest North. Additionally, moderate rain and high elevation snow will trail this system over the upper Intermountain West. Temperatures will be 15 to 20 degrees below normal from the Pacific northwest to the northern Rockies. A ridge of high pressure will bring warm and dry weather to the Great Basin and the Southwest on Monday.
Meanwhile, showers and thunderstorms will persist over the southeastern quadrant of the country as a frontal boundary stalls across the region. High pressure will dry conditions out across most of the Northeast.
