Weather Underground Forecast for Friday,June 3,2016

Heavy rain will batter the southern tier of the country on Friday, while a low pressure system shifts over the northern Plains,

A cold frontal boundary will stretch southwestward from the Northeast to the western Gulf Coast. Showers and thunderstorms will fire up along and near this frontal boundary across New England, the Mid-Atlantic, the Southeast and the Deep South. A low pressure system along the tail end of this frontal boundary will usher heavy rain and strong thunderstorms across the southern Plains, the western Gulf Coast and the lower Mississippi Valley. Prolonged heavy rain will bring threats of flash flooding to eastern Texas, southeast Oklahoma, southwest Arkansas and Louisiana.

Meanwhile, a separate system will dive southeastward across the northern Plains. This system will generate strong to severe thunderstorms over the north central portion of the country. Severe thunderstorms will be possible in northeast Nebraska, southeast South Dakota, Minnesota, northern Iowa and western Wisconsin. These thunderstorms will be capable of producing large hail, dangerous straight line winds and isolated tornadoes.

Most areas west of the Continental Divide will stay clear of precipitation due to a ridge of high pressure over the Great Basin. Temperatures will spike 10 to 20 degrees above normal across a handful of states on Friday.
