Weather Underground Forecast for Thursday,June 23,2016

An area of low pressure will bring active weather to the East Coast on Thursday, while a Pacific system moves over the Northwest.

A low pressure system will move east southeastward across the Ohio Valley, the central Appalachians and the Mid-Atlantic. This system will collide with warm and humid air, setting the stage for strong to severe thunderstorms. Severe thunderstorms will be possible in eastern Kentucky, southern Ohio, West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, southern New Jersey and southern Pennsylvania. These thunderstorms will be capable of producing large hail, dangerous straight line winds and isolated tornadoes. In addition, heavy rain will bring threats of flash flooding to southeast Ohio, eastern Kentucky, northeast Tennessee, West Virginia and western Virginia. A cold frontal boundary associated with this system will extend westward. This frontal boundary will initiate showers and thunderstorms from the Rockies to the middle Mississippi Valley.

Meanwhile, a Pacific cold front will shift slowly across the Northwest. This frontal boundary will generate showers and isolated thunderstorms from the Pacific Northwest to the northern Rockies. Cold air will settle in over the region, allowing for mixed precipitation to develop in the highest elevations of the Cascades. Warm and dry weather will persist across most of the Southwest on Thursday
