Weather Underground Forecast for Wednesday,June 22,2016

An active weather pattern will impact the Midwest on Wednesday, while isolated thunderstorms fire up over the Four Corners.

An area of low pressure will become more organized as it moves east southeastward from the northern Plains to the Great Lakes. Warm and muggy air will set the stage for strong to severe thunderstorms across the northern Plains, the Midwest, the Mid-Atlantic and parts of the Northeast. Severe thunderstorms will be possible in southeast Minnesota, eastern Iowa, southern Wisconsin, Illinois, southern Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, northern Kentucky, western West Virginia and western Pennsylvania. These thunderstorms will be capable of producing large hail, dangerous straight line winds and isolated tornadoes. Heavy rain will also bring threats of flash flooding to the aforementioned states on Wednesday.

A cold frontal boundary associated with this system will stretch west southwestward over the central Plains and the Intermountain West. Daytime heating will help generate isolated thunderstorms across the Four Corners and the high Plains.

Out west, an onshore flow from the Pacific will fuel light to moderate showers in western Oregon and portions of Washington. Hot afternoons will prevail across the Great Basin and the Southwest due to high pressure over the region. Excessive heat warnings will remain in effect through Wednesday evening for southern California, southern Nevada and western Arizona.
