Heavy rain from Danielle will elevate the risk of life-threatening flooding and mudslides across portions of eastern and central Mexico into midweek.
Danielle made landfall as a tropical storm along the eastern coast of Mexico on Monday evening.
While Danielle has weakened, locally heavy rain will continue to affect the region into Wednesday.
The threat for deadly flooding and mudslides will be high, with over half a foot of rain possible in some locations.
The states of Hildago, Tlaxcala and Veracruz will be the areas most at risk for heavy rain and flooding.

As moisture from Danielle pushes into the mountains of eastern Mexico, rainfall will be enhanced, which will only increase the risk for flooding and mudslides across the region.
Conditions are forecast to gradually quiet down across eastern Mexico on Wednesday, when more typical afternoon thunderstorms are expected to replace the heavy downpours.
Another batch of heavy rain emerging from the Yucatan Peninsula later this week will need to be monitored for potential tropical development.
