The 2016 ILA Berlin Air Show will take place through Saturday; however, rain and thunderstorms may impact the event daily.
The first two days of the event are professional days, closed to the public. Friday and Saturday are open to all people.
Public events include workshops for students, remote-controlled helicopter races, helicopter flights and interaction with astronauts according to the Berlin Air Show website.
Unfortunately, the more than 200,000 people expected to attend the event will have to deal with daily showers and thunderstorms.
A nearly stalled area of low pressure over central Europe will produce scattered showers and thunderstorms across Berlin and the surrounding region each day through the weekend.
Summerlike warmth and humidity will provide the ingredients for some of the storms to become severe each afternoon with flooding downpours, damaging winds and hail.
People are reminded to go indoors when when thunder is heard to prevent the risk of being struck by lightning.
These storms could disrupt events, so anyone with plans to attend should closely monitor the weather for possible delays or cancellations. The storms could also cause travel delays.

Air Show organizers are working closely with the German Weather Service to ensure the safety of participants and fans, "receiving information about the weather every few minutes," Franziska Treuer, Press and Public Relations spokesperson for the Messe Berlin Group of Companies said.
"In case of thunderstorm warnings or thunderstorms, our risk management informs all exhibitors in the display areas as well as the exhibitors in halls," Treuer said. "The aircrafts will be secured and obviously not in the air during this time."
"Our risk management is prepared for every situation, up to evacuating the halls and/or the entire ILA exhibition site."

A change to calmer weather is finally expected next week as high pressure builds into the region for several days.
