The average date of the first snowfall has passed many places in the
Intermountain West, Midwest and Appalachians. Buffalo, New York,
typically receives nearly 15 inches of snow by this time of year. The
city, however, has not had any measurable snowfall this season and broke
the long-standing record for latest such occurrence. The previous
record was Dec. 3, 1899. With a surge of mild air, there is no sign of
any measurable snow, defined as 0.1 of an inch or more, in Buffalo in
the near future.
