The average date of the first snowfall has passed many places in the Intermountain West, Midwest and Appalachians. Buffalo, New York, typically receives nearly 15 inches of snow by this time of year. The city, however, has not had any measurable snowfall this season and broke the long-standing record for latest such occurrence. The previous record was Dec. 3, 1899. With a surge of mild air, there is no sign of any measurable snow, defined as 0.1 of an inch or more, in Buffalo in the near future.
