After a quiet start to the week in Minneapolis, messy winter weather is in the offing leading up to Christmas Day.
Monday and Tuesday are forecast to be chilly, between the mid-30s to 40 F, with partly cloudy skies.

On Wednesday, however, a clipper system will move through the area, threatening to spread snow across the city.
Temperatures in the upper 30s may cause roads to be wet, rather than snowy. However, those planning to travel early for Christmas should drive slowly and exercise caution.
The biggest threat for travel-slowing weather will arrive on Christmas Day as a disturbance moves through the area. Though the precipitation type is in the air, it could fall as an icy mix, slicking roadways and leading to delays.
