Weather Underground Forecast for Friday,April 3,2015

A cold front will slide across the eastern half of the country on Friday, while a separate frontal boundary will affect the Northwest.

A cold frontal boundary will extend across the Northeast, the Ohio Valley, the Mississippi Valley and the southern Plains. As this frontal boundary shifts eastward, it will collide with a moist air mass from the Gulf of Mexico, resulting in widespread rain and thunderstorms. The strongest thunderstorms will focus over portions of the lower Mississippi Valley, the Deep South, the Tennessee Valley and the Ohio Valley. Severe thunderstorms will be possible across several states, including eastern Texas, Louisiana, southern Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, southeast Indiana and southwest Ohio. These thunderstorms will be capable of producing large hail, dangerous straight line winds and isolated tornadoes. In addition, heavy rain will bring threats of flash flooding to southern Illinois, southern Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, West Virginia and southwest Pennsylvania. Moderate to heavy snow showers are forecast to develop over the eastern Great Lakes, northwest Pennsylvania, New York and northwest New England.

To the west, an area of low pressure is expected to bring morning snow showers to the central Rockies and the central high Plains. Further to the west, a Pacific cold front will generate light to moderate rain over the Pacific Northwest. High elevation snow showers will be possible across the Cascades and the northern Rockies on Friday. .
