Rain to Soak Japan, Taiwan, Southeast China

Several disturbances, along with moisture from former Super Typhoon Maysak, moving along a stalled front will bring rounds of rain from southeast China and Taiwan to Japan early this week.
The heaviest and most widespread rain through Tuesday is expected to fall in the interior of southeast China across the provinces of Guizhou, Hunan, Hubei and eastern Sichuan. Heavy rain has already fallen in some of these areas on Friday and Saturday with in excess of 100 mm (4 inches) of rain being recorded.
Through Tuesday, an additional 50-100 mm (2-4 inches) of rain will fall leading to the risk of flooding in low-lying areas.
While areas further to the south, such as Guangdong and Hong Kong, will be dry on Monday, showers and locally drenching thunderstorms will move into these areas on Tuesday.

Former Super Typhoon Maysak also will supply rain to Taiwan and the nearby southeastern China coast.
Despite having weakened significantly, tropical moisture associated with Maysak will move to the north, bringing rain and locally drenching thunderstorms. The heaviest rain will fall in southeastern Taiwan where tropical downpours will lead to a rapid rise in streams and the threat for flooding in low-lying areas.

As moisture flows to the north and east along a front it will cross Japan wetting much of the country. Areas from Nagasaki to Osaka and Tokyo will experience spells of rain through the first half of the week.
While rainfall across Japan will not be heavy enough to cause flooding, those with outdoor plans will have to contend with the wet conditions.
Temperatures will begin the week warm in Tokyo, expected to rise to 21 C (70 F). However, by Tuesday the high temperature is expected to only be 12 C (54 F). Even cooler air will arrive for midweek which will make it feel more like winter than the middle of spring. Similarly, the rest of Honshu, Shikoku and Kyushu will feel the cooling trend as well.
