Less than a week after the first accumulating snowfall of the season in Tokyo, a more significant snowfall is possible from Thursday into Thursday night.
While last week's snow accumulated less than 2.5 cm (1 inch) in the city, this storm could bring 5-10 cm (2-4 inches) to the city with even more snow just north and west of the city but still within the Greater Tokyo Area.
Low pressure will become more organized as it moves northeast from Taiwan to just east of Japan on Thursday and Thursday night.
As the low becomes more organized, precipitation will become more widespread across southern Honshu, Shikoku and Kyushu on Wednesday night.
Thursday into Thursday night, the precipitation will lift northeast across central Honshu. Near the coast, a mix of rain and snow will result in a slushy accumulation of snow on Thursday with snow becoming the primary precipitation type by Thursday evening.

Snow will continue to fall across the Great Tokyo area for much of Thursday night leading to travel problems which could linger into Friday morning, despite improved weather by the morning commute.
