What do these scenes have in common? They were "painted" by Tel Aviv-based Josh Adamski, whose photography captures the awe-inspiring beauty of weather as seen from his home in Israel.
"I live near a beautiful beach on the Tel Aviv coast and I like to go for a stroll on the beach at the time the sun sets and the sky is dramatically filled with clouds," he wrote in an email interview with weather.com.
Adamski calls his work "photo impressionism," as he digitally retouches many of his photos to give them a brushstroke-like feel, as if they were painted on canvas rather than captured through the lens of a camera.
"After I take the shots and move on to the process of editing, I sometimes like to continue the original flow of nature and translate it to editorial motion in order to provide my own interpretation," he explains, adding that the sky on the horizon over the Mediterranean Sea near his home is a favorite subject.
"I love the warm weather of the Mediterranean coast that has colorful sunsets," he says. "Also, in winter when it is windy and cloudy, there is a nice wave motion and stormy sea I enjoy capturing."
