Here's the "WeatherWhys",for Monday,October 1,2012,discussing the common tracks of hurricanes during the month of October, from accuweather.com,enjoy:
For the first week or so of October, a large portion of the Atlantic
remains favorable for tropical storm development. However, the breeding
grounds for such storms shrinks dramatically during mid- and late
October. This happens as the jet stream migrates farther south, creating
a less favorable wind environment for such storms. Also, the ocean
cools which takes away some of the heat energy necessary for the
survival of these storms.
