US National Weather Forecast for October 1,2012

Here's the US National Weather Forecast for Monday,October 1,2012,as of 8AM,EDT/ 5AM,PDT,October 1,2012,from weatherunderground.com,enjoy:

Wet and unsettled weather continues in the Deep South on Monday as a low pressure system along the Louisiana coast lifts northeastward through the Central Gulf States into the Tennessee Valley and associated warm and cold fronts extend through the southeastern corner of the nation. The system will pull in moisture inland, fueling more showers, periods of heavy rainfall, and strong thunderstorms from the Lower Mississippi Valley through the Southeast and Tennessee Valley. Excessive rainfall in already saturated areas will create possible flooding and flash flooding. In addition to precipitation, strong thunderstorms in areas from the Central and Eastern Gulf Coast States northward into southeastern Tennessee and western North Carolina may turn severe with isolated tornadoes in the afternoon and strong to damaging wind gusts.

Meanwhile to the north, a trough of low pressure near the Lower Great Lakes will lift northeastward through the Northeast and into southeastern Canada. Expect widely scattered showers to continue across the Northeast as this system progresses. Behind this activity, a cold front will drop across the Upper Midwest and Northern and Central Plains with chances of light showers.

Out West, a ridge of high pressure lingers over the West Coast, providing much of the West with warm to hot temperatures and generally fair skies. Well above average temperatures in the inland valleys of California combined with dry conditions will keep fire danger high in some areas.
