Weather Underground Forecast for Wednesday,May 25,2016

A trough of low pressure will dig into the Southwest on Wednesday, while an area of low pressure transitions across the Plains.

A deep trough of low pressure will stall out over the Southwest. This system, combined with daytime heating, will generate showers and isolated thunderstorms across parts of California, the Great Basin, the Pacific Northwest and the upper Intermountain West. Most of these storms will fire up during the second half of the day as a result of daytime heating. High elevation snow will also be possible across the Sierra Nevada, the northern Cascades and the Rockies.

Meanwhile, an area of low pressure will lift north northeastward across the central Plains, the northern Plains and the upper Mississippi Valley. This system will collide with a warm and humid air mass from the Gulf of Mexico. The result will be widespread thunderstorms across the Plains, the Mississippi Valley and the upper Midwest. Severe thunderstorms will be possible in northeast Oklahoma, eastern Kansas, eastern Nebraska, southeast South Dakota, southwest Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri and west central Illinois. These thunderstorms will be capable of producing large hail, dangerous straight line winds and isolated tornadoes. In addition, heavy rain will bring threats of flash flooding to the upper Mississippi Valley.

High pressure will keep most of the Southeast clear of wet weather. The exception to this will be over the southern tip of Florida, where showers and isolated thunderstorms will be possible.
