Weather Underground Forecast for Sunday,May 15,2016

A low pressure system will shift across the Northeast on Sunday, while a separate system moves over the Intermountain West.

An area of low pressure will push northeastward across New England and southeast Canada. This system will support a mixture of rain and snow downwind of the Great Lakes and across New England. A blast of cold air will trail this system. Temperatures will drop 10 to 25 degrees below normal across the Midwest, the Mid-Atlantic and New England. Freeze warnings are in place for parts of the upper Midwest. A cold frontal boundary associated with this system will stretch across the western Atlantic, the Southeast, the northern Gulf of Mexico and the southern Plains. This frontal system will generate showers and thunderstorms across the southern and central Plains, as well as the lower Mississippi Valley. Prolonged heavy rain will bring threats of flash flooding to southern Texas.

Meanwhile, a low pressure system will push east southeastward across the Continental Divide. This system will produce light to moderate rain and high elevation snow in the Pacific Northwest and the Intermountain West. A ridge of high pressure will build over the eastern Pacific, keeping weather conditions dry across California, Nevada and Arizona. Wind advisories will remain in effect for parts of southern California through early Sunday morning.
