Weather Underground Forecast for Sunday,January 24,2016

A Pacific system will affect the Northwest on Sunday, while a weaker area of low pressure shifts across the Great Lakes.

A low pressure system will push east northeastward over British Columbia. A cold frontal boundary associated with this system will produce moderate rain and high elevation snow across Washington, Oregon, northern California and parts of northern Nevada. This precipitation will arrive to the West Coast during the late morning and the early afternoon. A separate and weaker area of low pressure will shift across the Intermountain West. Scattered showers and mountain snow will linger over the Northwest throughout Sunday morning. Light to moderate snow is expected across the Bitterroots, the Wasatch, the Rockies and the northern Plains. A mixture of rain and snow will also develop across the central high Plains. Most of the Southwest should stay clear of wet weather as high pressure builds along the coast of southern California.

Meanwhile, a wave of low pressure will transition eastward from the upper Mississippi Valley to southeast Canada. Light snow showers will affect parts of the upper Mississippi Valley and the upper Great Lakes. A dominant ridge of high pressure will dry conditions out from the middle and lower Mississippi Valley to the Eastern Seaboard on Sunday.
