A Few Severe Thunderstorms Possible in Florida Through Thursday

No widespread severe weather is expected for the final full week of January. However, rain and thunderstorms will affect Florida and parts of the Southeast through Thursday.

Wednesday
  • A few severe thunderstorms are possible ahead of a cold front across central to south Florida.
  • Damaging wind gusts and a tornado or two will be the main threats.
  • Cities: Fort Myers | Miami | Orlando
Thursday
  • As the frontal boundary slows down and potentially becomes quasi-stationary, a few thunderstorms may continue across south Florida.
  • An isolated severe storm or two will be possible, if the boundary remains draped over Florida.
Friday-Sunday
  • No severe thunderstorms are anticipated.
  • A few thunderstorms may impact portions of California by Sunday as a cold front moves through the area.

Tuesday's Hail Reports

Hail, some that was marginally severe, impacted the San Antonia area as elevated thunderstorms moved through. In the downtown area, dime size hail was reported, while just to the southeast in Wilson County, one inch diameter fell.
There was no damage reported from the storms.
