NYC: No Lasting Cold in Sight

Following the midweek rain, temperatures will continue to average above normal through the weekend and during much of December around New York City.
Gusty winds and lowering humidity will make the air feel chilly on Thursday, despite a return of some sunshine. Actual temperatures will peak in the lower 50s F, but AccuWeather RealFeel® Temperatures will be near 40 much of the day.

A Fantastic Weekend on the Way

The weather for Friday through the weekend and into Monday will be dry around the region with plenty of sunshine each day.
The weather will offer a great opportunity for hunting, shopping, traveling, putting up holiday lights and tracking down a Christmas tree.

Daytime highs will be in the 50s through Monday. Nighttime lows will be near 40 in the city and can dip into the 20s in some of the colder suburbs.

During the first week of December, average temperatures range from a low in the middle 30s to a high in the middle 40s in the city.
A storm forecast to impact the Pacific coast on Thursday may reach the mid-Atlantic region on Tuesday with rain.
In the wake of the storm next week, there are no signs of lasting cold air emptying into the Eastern states. A strong El Niño will help keep the polar vortex at bay near the Arctic Circle.
For those hoping for snow leading up to the holiday season, the persistent mild weather will make for quite a challenge for storms to bring snow to the area.
The strong El Niño winters (December through February) of 1972-73 and 1997-98 brought 2.8 and 5.5 inches of snow respectively to Central Park.
