Weather Underground Forecast for Thursday,January 22,2015

A low pressure system will slide across the southern tier of the country on Thursday, while a coastal system will skim across the Eastern Seaboard.

An area of low pressure is expected to shift eastward over the southern Plains and the western Gulf Coast. Light to moderate snow showers will continue to develop across the southern Rockies and the southern Plains. Temperatures will be 10 to 25 degrees below normal over the southern Plains on Thursday. In addition, this system will draw moisture from the Gulf of Mexico, triggering rain and thunderstorms from the western Gulf Coast to the eastern Gulf Coast. Light to moderate rain will also develop across the Deep South, the Tennessee Valley and the Southeast.

A separate system will move north northeastward over the East Coast. This system will usher light snow showers across portions of the northern Mid-Atlantic and southern New England. High pressure will keep conditions relatively clear from the northern Plains to the Great Lakes.

Meanwhile, a weak Pacific disturbance will bring chances of light to moderate rain to the Pacific Northwest. As this wave of low pressure slides eastward, it will generate a mixture of rain and snow across the Cascades and the northern Rockies. A ridge of high pressure over the coast of California will keep weather conditions calm across the Great Basin and the Southwest on Thursday.
