Weather Underground Forecast for Thursday,January 15,2015

An area of low pressure will develop along the Gulf Coast on Thursday, while a Pacific system will affect the Northwest.

A low pressure system will shift eastward over the northern Gulf of Mexico. This system will usher light to moderate showers across the central and eastern Gulf Coast. By Thursday evening, light showers will spread across the Southeast and the southern Mid-Atlantic.

Just to the north, a separate area of low pressure will move eastward over southeast Canada. A cold front associated with this system will swing across the Great Lakes. Light snow showers are forecast to develop ahead of this frontal boundary across the upper Midwest, the northern Ohio Valley and portions of the Northeast.

Meanwhile, a strong Pacific system will approach the northwestern corner of the country. This system will bring moderate to heavy rain to Washington, Oregon and northern California. In addition, heavy snow showers will impact parts of the Cascades and the northern Rockies, especially along favorable mountain slopes. There will also be a chance of freezing rain across the region. A ridge of high pressure over the eastern Pacific will keep conditions calm over the Southwest, the Great Basin and the southern Rockies. Temperatures will range between the 60s and 70s across the Desert Southwest on Thursday.
