While a storm this weekend in Washington, D.C., will bring rain to much of the immediate area, with warmer air briefly moving in, waves of cold air will follow for the first full week of January.
Snow and ice at the onset of the storm on Saturday will change to rain in the northern and western suburbs.
If headed out on the road or taking air travel, track any incoming precipitation with MinuteCast® down to your precise location.
People heading well north and west of the city should anticipate slippery travel for a time on Saturday, before temperatures rise.

Much colder air will blast in behind the storm next week after mild weather on Sunday.
It is possible winds get strong enough to cause minor flight delays during Sunday night into Monday as the colder air rolls in.

Ahead of a second and colder push of air, an Alberta Clipper storm has the potential to bring accumulating snow to part of the area on Tuesday evening.
By the middle of next week, the area may experience its coldest weather of the winter months so far.
Temperatures could stay well below freezing on multiple days during the second half of the week.
Gusty winds associated with the waves of arctic air will make it feel much colder than the actual temperature. AccuWeather.com RealFeel® Temperatures will be 15-30 degrees lower than the actual temperature at times.
The weather next week will be painful if not properly dressed when venturing outdoors and could be dangerous for some people.
