Showers are in the forecast for the first several days of 2015 in Atlanta, so Atlanta-area residents will want to have rain gear handy for the duration of the weekend.
Conditions will turn mild with temperatures settling into the low 60s by Sunday.

"Warmer air from the south will get drawn northward with high temperatures over the weekend reaching close to 10-degrees above average for early January," Pindrock said.
A system will organize over the southern Plains on Saturday and race toward the Great Lakes. The track of this storm will keep the chances of rain in the forecast into Sunday, Pindrock said.

The above-average temperatures won't last into the new week as dry weather returns on Monday.
"A cold front will cross the area early next week with temperatures returning closer to average," Pindrock said.
