Philly: New Warm, Humid Surge Will Not Last Long

Warmer and more humid air will surge into the Philadelphia area during the first part of this week but will not stick around long.
The departure of the wedge of high pressure that promoted a mostly rain-free weekend will open the door for the surge of steamy air.
The air will feel increasingly humid through Tuesday with a full-fledged steambath in place for Wednesday.
With the increased humidity will come a surge of warmth that will cause temperatures to steadily rise through the 80s daily into Tuesday.

Wednesday is shaping up to be the hottest day of the week with a high in the lower 90s. The combination of the warmth and humidity will create challenges and hazards for those who must engage in strenuous labor and those with respiratory issues.

The majority of the afternoon thunderstorm activity Monday through Tuesday should stay confined to places to the north and west of Philadelphia.
While that means the first two games of the series between the Phillies and the San Francisco Giants will be played without the threat of delays, the city will not benefit from the brief cooldown that thunderstorms (deemed nature's air conditioners) provide.

The daylight hours of Wednesday should also stay rain-free before a cold front returns a shower or thunderstorm at night and through Thursday and sweeps away the surge of warmth and humidity.
A fresh shot of cooler and less humid air from Canada in the front's wake will lead to a pleasant Friday and start to the next weekend.
