Locally gusty, drenching storms will fire in the Washington, D.C., area at midweek but will be followed by another drop in heat and humidity.
After temperatures flirt with the middle 90s F and AccuWeather.com RealFeel® temperatures peak near 100 once again, storms will approach from the northwest and build nearby.
According to AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Dave Dombek, "Most storms will stop short of being severe, but there is a risk of isolated storms downing some trees, causing power outages and producing flash flooding."
On Tuesday, the storms are most likely to hit areas north and west of the city.
"It is possible the risk of severe weather splits on Wednesday with one area aiming farther southwest and another area lifting northeast of the region," Dombek said.

For people heading to the beaches, each day this week will be warm enough for bathing and the risk of storms will generally be limited to the evening hours Tuesday and Wednesday.
The greatest risk of a downpour for the series with the Orioles will be for Wednesday evening's game at Camden Yards.
During Thursday and Friday, high temperatures are projected to be in the middle 80s with lowering humidity. However, the cooler and less humid air will be significantly less impressive, when compared to prior outbreaks in recent weeks.
